What to bring to your immigration fingerprinting appointment
Fingerprinting (toma de huellas) is required for the TIE (Foreigner Identity Card). Going to the police station without the right documents means being sent home and losing the appointment. This guide tells you exactly what to bring.
Important: Police stations don't accept incomplete documents. If anything is missing, they send you home and the appointment is lost. Check this list before you leave.

Steps before your fingerprinting appointment
Pay form 790 code 012
Download the form from the Ministry of the Interior's site. Fill it in (name, NIE, card type). Pay it at any bank branch. Keep the stamped receipt — without it they won't do the procedure.
Get your photo taken in advance
White background, dark clothing for good contrast. Size 32x26mm or 35x35mm (check with your station). No glasses, no hat, neutral expression. You need 2-3 photos.
Photocopy every original document
Passport: photocopy all stamped pages + the main page. Old TIE (both sides). Decision: all pages. At the station they ask for original + copy — always bring both.
Arrive 10-15 minutes early
If you're late they can mark you as a no-show and you lose the appointment. The fingerprinting itself usually takes 10-15 minutes, but the queue can be longer. Arrive with margin.
On the way out, check your receipt
You'll be given a fingerprinting receipt. Keep it — it's your proof until the TIE arrives. With this receipt you can work and complete procedures while you wait for the card.
